Perry Noble, is the most abusive beater of Christ’s sheep that I’ve ever heard. Why anyone would allow themselves to be abused by this man is beyond me. Here is the latest example of “Pastor” Perry’s abusiveness.
This is a segment from the June 30th, 2011 episode of the Fighting for the Faith radio program.(source)
I am amazed that so many people put up with this hireling(John 10:12-13). He has no love for his people and he has been shaking the $money$ tree(1 Timothy 6:9-11) a lot over the past several months.-David J
1 Corinthians 13(NIV)
1 If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
Here is another blog:FBC Jax Watchdog talking about Noble’s bad attitude:
————————
It ain’t easy being a member these days at NewSpring Churchpastored by Perry Noble – the rules, the regulations, the sheep beatings, the curses.
According to Perry Noble, you “officially suck as a human being” if you express to Perry that you are purposely late to church because you like his preaching but don’t care for the music style.
NewSpring members need to be careful that their church doesn’t begin to fall into the category of a cult. Cults often begin by having a very demanding, charismatic leader, they will require conformity with rigid extra-biblical rules, they will devalue outsiders and non-conformists, and they will suppress dissent.
You see all four of these beginning to emerge at NewSpring. Not saying they are a cult, but when the charismatic leader starts telling people that :
- they can’t come back into the auditorium after the sermon starts even if they leave to tend to a child or go to the bathroom;
- that you suck as a human being if you disagree with the pastor over music styles;
- you are not allowed to designate how your donations are spent;
- you must give 10% of your income to the church undesignated or God will curse you;
- parents cannot bring children younger than 12 years of age into the church services;
- you must show up to church on time or you can’t get into the church service;
…then you better begin to get concerned.
Lest you think that I’m overstating things by bringing up the word “cult” – don’t forget what happened to a critic of Perry Noble’s at the hands of staff members a few years back that is the subject of an on-going lawsuit. You see from the “you suck as a human being” quote how those who even mildly express dissent are devalued by the pastor. I would say it is this kind of rhetoric from the pastor towards dissenters that breeds the actions taken by a staff member against the Noble critic back in 2008 and 2009.
Perry Noble even tells the parents that if they don’t conform to the “authority” of the church leaders, they will breed rebelliousness in the hearts of their children . No, actually subjecting one’s self to non-biblical requirements for the pleasure of the pastor might teach your kids that they must endure spiritual abuse at the hands of an over-bearing preacher.
If you’re interested, Chris Rosebrough has done an excellent review of this sermon that he has entitled “The Perry Noble Sheep Beating Incident of 2011.” You can listen to the entire Perry Noble sermon here, and click on the sermon “Frequently Asked Questions”.
Chris is right on in his analysis. This is classic sheep beating. A pastor is to be the picture of humility and servant-hood for the people he shepherds, but instead Perry Noble is a stand-up comedian who makes jokes about troublesome church members, denigrates Christians who disagree with him, and lays down extra-biblical rules that are burdensome on people.
Unfortunately in Perry Noble and other mega pastor superstars these days, we have professional religious men who have turned Christianity from its essence: the release of sinful men and women from the burden of having to try to please God with their works and their alms through simple faith in Christ – into a strict religious system that demands conformity to religious practices, tells people how they must think and what rules they must obey to be pleasing to God and their priest, and uses tactics of guilt and shame in the process. And, oh by the way, they get filthy rich while doing it.
I’m pretty sure that if Jesus were here, he would warn the people of NewSpring about the arrogant Perry Noble and his professional religious men and describe them as he did the Pharisees:
I am so glad that more people are seeing Perry Noble and his inner circle as the snake oil salesmen that they are. As a former New$pring member from 2008-2009, I have personally felt the wrath of New$pring upon me when I spoke out against Perry Noble’s errors and bad attitude. Lucky for me, I did not end up being harassed like James Duncan. In my opinion, New$pring is closer to being a cult than most people realize.-David J

NewSpring toleration of this abuser reminds me of 2 Corinthians 11:20In fact, you even put up with anyone who enslaves you or exploits you or takes advantage of you or puts on airs or slaps you in the face.
To Mr. Perry Noble;
But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken; The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of, And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Matthew 24:48-51
Mr. David J;
Thank you for this web site, and thank you for alerting The Lord’s sheep of the wolves in sheep’s clothing. If only they would study God’s Word with The Holy Spirit leading and teaching them. So many refuse to study with prayer for wisdom to know the truth. They follow wolves to their own destruction. Pray that The Lord open their eyes so that they can be…
If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. John 8:36

if ministries like this focused more on preaching the gospel and focusing on expanding gods kingdom then maybe we would not be in the crisis that we are in. Where missionaries are now coming into the states. Because they see how messed up people who have websites like this are. It is un religous and disturbing that you would critisise a church that has salvations every sunday and i doing a great job of showing christ to everyone and expanding gods kingdom
I agree wholeheartedly. To many people, like the owners of this site, spend way more time preaching what “they are against”, than spending time preaching the Gospel, which by the way, is “Good News”. It is a slap in the face of Christianity and everyone who has died for the cause of Christ that you would chase around silly opinions rather than take a “Good News” message to the world. Let God judge how He will, and you try to do good.
“Galations 5:22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.”
More time is spent on what we “shouldn’t” be doing. However, Paul, writing to the Galations, talks about what we should be doing… Lets move forward, not backwards.
Take your own temperature, but “You will know them by their fruit” could apply here as well…. This site isn’t showing a lot of ” love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness and self-control”….
Cole,
So we should just ignore Noble’s Scripture twisting all in the name of spreading the Gospel. Please tell me why we should ignore Noble’s distortions of the Scriptures in this video? While you are at it, refer to Acts 17. Where the Bereans spending too much time checking the Scriptures vs. spreading the Gospel? Did Paul lecture them for or praise them for their actions?
Yet another example of why we need missionaries who are true to God’s Word. We need missionaries like Charles Spurgeon, who will not fear the words of man when they preach the whole council of God. More than ever today, we need people who will speak the truth and stand for sound doctrine even though these stands will bring down the wrath of those who like their ears tickled once a week. So yes, I agree that we need more missionaries to help straighten out this purpose driven seeker-sensitive apostasy taught as Christianity in America today.
I am new to NewSpring and have been christian since the day that I was born, thirty years ago. I was raised Catholic and have received all of the sacraments. I have studied all religions and I have read the bible cover to cover several times. I understand so much about God’s love. I pray for HIS wisdom on a daily basis. Today I attended the main campus in Anderson, SC. Perry’s message was about giving credit to our savior for good works and not congratulating ourselves for these works. Perry’s honesty about his own faults is refreshing. I do not see him as a wolf in sheep’s clothing. I feel blessed that I have been granted the wisdom to see others for what they are. I also feel blessed to see the positive in almost any situation. Those willing to humiliate someone on a public forum, whether true or not, must question their true motives. Sometimes when we are angry and hurting we may justify our actions in the name of, “Truth.” I am not condemning the author of the opinions on this site, nor am I saying that Perry is the second coming of Jesus Christ. I am pleased to say that today I have grown in my faith and knowledge of our Lord, Jesus Christ. He loves us all and let us treat others as we wish to be treated.
Peace and love,
Melissa Coe
I’m very disappointed with how poor your attacks on Newspring are. I’ve attended several churches and most recently joined Newspring. Oh, I also have common sense so let me take a look at your bullets.
-they can’t come back into the auditorium after the sermon starts even if they leave to tend to a child or go to the bathroom;
~1,500-2,000 people are in the same auditorium for a sermon. Let’s say 3% of the people in a service of 1,500 need to leave for whatever reason. This amounts to 45 people getting up, walking out of a very long row, and walking to the nearest exit. This is distracting to people around a person that leaves, but when 45 people do it during one service it becomes VERY distracting.
- that you suck as a human being if you disagree with the pastor over music styles;
You are taking his (sarcastic) words out of context. Post about three minutes of his sermon before and after this sentence and let’s see the truth.
- you are not allowed to designate how your donations are spent;
You can designate. You can’t micromanage your donation. It’s pretty sad if you can’t trust your church leaders to use your tithe/donations to its best potential.
- you must give 10% of your income to the church undesignated or God will curse you;
Have you read the Bible? This sounds like something you should take up with God, because Perry Noble didn’t make this up.
- parents cannot bring children younger than 12 years of age into the church services;
Have you ever watched Kidspring or see the work they do in there? I have, and it’s an amazing children’s program. A seven year old is incapable of comprehending a sermon geared towards adults. They present the SAME message on the kid’s level.
- you must show up to church on time or you can’t get into the church service;
You can get into the service up to 15-20 minutes late. How do I know? Because I’ve done it several times. If you are later then that there’s a great change that there’s not a seat left for you OR it would be very hard and very disrupting to find.
Why do you have such a grudge against Newspring? Also, please think before you post this stuff on the internet. I wouldn’t hire someone who displayed signs of inability to think and reason.
I certainly agree with you on how poor the arguments are. Everybody knows what Perry means but those people who are being self-righteous hear what they want to hear. Makes no sense.
My family and I have been members at Newspring for about 5 years now. I used to get my feelings hurt and be so angry when I read negative comments about Newspring.Now I just laugh at them because I realize that they come from ignorance. Ignorance breeds fear. People fear what they dont understand. Most of the quotes from Pastor Perry are taken out of context, twisted, and made to sound horrible. Someone I respect told me once, “Christians eat each other alive!” I believe this. Those of you who bash other churches, if you really spent all that energy on spreading the gospel and serving others, you would see so much fruit. I guess there are some people that just enjoy looking for reasons to be mad. Try focusing on the poor lost souls who dont go to church and leave the ones who are worshiping Jesus alone!
I will suggest that you look at Message to my NewSpring Church friends who have stopped talking to me and read why I left NewSpring. I have documentation and videos of Noble twisting the Scriptures. Please feel free to research that data here for yourself.
Well I think what he meant was not “you suck if you don’t like our style of music”, I think what he means is that isn’t an excuse because praise and worship is not for you is for our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Just saying.
So Highway to Hell, Hell’s Bells, Nothin but a Good Time, Just a Kiss, Friends in Low Places, all that is for Jesus? Is that what you’re saying? Imagine for just a moment that the seat beside you is empty and just as you begin to cheer on the NewSpring band at the beginning of Highway to Hell, Jesus sits down beside you. Are you really not embarrassed? Seriously? Can you really picture Jesus tapping his feet to that?
